About Sally Anne

Sally Anne only accepts and handles a select few show dogs at any one time, she does not handle multiple dogs in the same class. Typically she will be travelling to shows with 4-5 dogs maximum.

Her philosphy is such that she wants to provide her clients with a unique hands on approach. Many of her clients view their show dog as a pet dog first and a show dog second, they are accustomed to sleeping on their owners beds, living in a house and being part of the family. By hiring Sally Anne to show your dog you can be assured that your dog will receive all the comforts of home and will be treated just like one of her own dogs!!

Taking only a select few client dogs ensures that your dog receives much more personal attention, your dog is exercised more frequently, and will be leash walked at show sites and at the hotel at no time will your dog be ever left in an ex-pen. Your treasured family member will receive more one on one time, get played with more often and spend less time in a crate both at the kennel and when on the road.

All of the client dogs who go on the road to shows sleep in the hotel room, many of them ON the bed :)

Who Is Sally Anne?

Unlike many professional handlers Sally Anne was not born into the sport nor was she a junior handler growing up at the dog shows. Growing up in England she was not allowed to have a dog so she invented one, her invisible friend was a Border Collie whose name was Shep. As a teenager Sally Anne pet sat and dog walked neighbors and friends dogs of all shapes and sizes.

Graduating from college with a degree in child education Sally Anne traveled the world as a childrens “Nanny” and spent time in Paris, Milan, New York, London as well as many other exotic destinations. After she married in 1991 and relocated to Sarasota FL,  Sally Anne started working in obedience and pet therapy with her first golden retrievers Barnum and Bailey. Sally Anne has taught obedience from puppy classes through advanced levels,  and also assisted in a doggie daycare in Sarasota FL. For many years Sally Anne opened her home and heart and acted as an active foster-home for golden rescue. She was also a CGC and TDI evaluator, and an active pet therapy participant with her own dogs for Hospice House.

After purchasing her first show dog and learning the “ropes” the hard way, she was fortunate enough to find some amazing mentors in the breed ring. Learning from top AKC judges, Golden breeders and conformation handlers, Sally Anne studied the breed standard, found mentors and learned from the best in the business how to groom, condition and present sporting dogs as an owner handler in the highly competitive world of conformation. She was successful with her own goldens and quite quickly friends and other dog show people started to give her their dogs to show and thus a new career began….

Sally Anne would like to take a moment to thank those mentors in the show world, who have helped her achieve and maintain success, and those who continue to support her in her chosen career.
